Kalamazoo — Western Michigan began its third week of fall camp on Monday over a two hour practice at Waldo Stadium, capped by head coach Lance Taylor delivering a stern message to his team.

Stern might actually be underselling it, as Taylor forcefully got after his team for evidently not living up to a standard or being detail-oriented in some way and how this being the third time he’d reminded them, something he doesn’t plan on doing again. Listening from across the field, it’s not clear exactly what Taylor was upset about/by, though that's not the strict point here.

Whether they just need a jolt awake to avoid a lull as camp wears on or if Taylor’s message was a necessary warning to shape up in some distinct way, the silence from the rest of the Broncos gathered around Taylor at midfield of Waldo Stadium reflected rapt attention. The message, seemingly, had been received.

Time will tell how well the Broncos internalize the message and live up to it, but the scene is a good reminder that the challenges of camp are just as much mental as they are physical.

Here are some takeaways from WMU’s practice on Monday.

Broc Lowry dropped some dimes in 11 on 11

Arguably his best pass of the day went to tailback Cole Cabana.
