Central Michigan camp notes: QB competition open, Glasser finally a full go

The Chippewas are seeking to live up to a higher standard in Matt Drinkall's second season at the helm in Mt. Pleasant.

Mt. Pleasant — The atmospheric scoring from the film Sicario resonating across the Kelly/Shorts Stadium turf meant one thing on Thursday: Central Michigan football practice began.

It’s a big season arriving at Central Michigan this fall, Year 2 for the Matt Drinkall-led coaching regime, one aiming for new and bigger goals after enjoying modest success with a 7-6 campaign in 2025. But much like Drinkall said after his team got blasted by Michigan early in 2025, the Chippewas have moved past whatever moral victories and evidence-unseen growth.

Now, the goal is simple and real: Compete for a MAC title and establish Central Michigan, once more, as a perennial winner in the league. The standard has been raised, and this edition of the Chippewas will be tasked with striving to meet it.
