Angel Flores, Jadyn Glasser, Marcus Beamon: Laying out CMU's spring QB hierarchy

The Chippewas need to replace the vast majority of passing production from 2025, but return a trio of intriguing, slightly-seasoned quarterbacks.

It’ll be familiar faces but a new look for the Central Michigan quarterback position for the 2026 season.

The Chippewas lose quarterback and starter Joe Labas, who exhausted his eligibility, and in turn lose the majority of the passing production from 2025. Labas accounted for 1854 of Central Michigan’s 2172 passing yards and 13 of the Chippewas’ 16 passing scores. He had 208 of CMU’s 255 passing attempts.

But though the passing game did not flow through them, Central Michigan returns a trio of quarterbacks who played in 2025: Angel Flores, Jadyn Glasser and Marcus Beamon.

Glasser played in two games before missing the remainder of the season with a knee injury. Flores spent most of the season in a rotation with Labas, largely spelling him to bring a rushing element to the position. Flores missed a handful of games with a knee injury, himself. Beamon played in the final four games plus the bowl, preserving the year of eligibility.

And Central Michigan has been comfortable rotating the quarterbacks in and out, maximizing their various skillsets to in turn maximize what the Chippewas can be, offensively. A similar system of quarterback rotation is also a possibility.

“Jadyn and Angel will for sure go in as the leaders in the clubhouse to take the lead on that,” head coach Matt Drinkall said in February.

With spring practice kicking off later this month, here are some thoughts on the CMU quarterbacks going into the 15 practices.
